Burton Albion are to ban Reading fans from taking inflatables to their final away game of the season on Saturday.

An annual tradition for supporters to take blow-up items for the last match of the season, it makes for some sight when launched in the air as the teams walk out.

In fact, the Pirelli Stadium was the scene of some joyous inflatable fun in 2017 when almost 2,000 Royals supporters celebrated reaching the playoffs at the home of the Brewers.

1,700 tickets, the full allocation, were snapped up within a week and League One survival will be celebrated, while the Brewers are still fighting for their third-tier status.

Burton Albion Football Club have informed Reading that supporters will not be permitted to take inflatables into the ground, much to the disappointment of the travelling contingent who have already made purchases.

Luton Town took a similar stance on the final day of 2021/22, however, multiple inflatables were still spotted inside Kenilworth Road come match day.

The Reading Chronicle have approached Burton Albion for comment.
