Former Reading goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has been nominated for the prestigious Ballon d'Or award.
The 31-year-old kick-started his career with the Royals in 2019 when he played 18 games and helped keep the team in the Championship under Jose Gomes.
Having made his professional debut for Arsenal, against Reading in 2012, he endured a rough spell of 52 matches in seven years.
He played more regularly for the Gunners following his loan spell in Berkshire, making 24 appearances before joining Aston Villa.
Going from strength to strength since, the Argentine is regularly among the best keepers in the Premier League and he was a pivotal player in his national team's World Cup success in 2022.
As a result, Martinez has been included in the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d'Or, a historic award given to the best player in world football since 1956.
International captain Lionel Messi, the most decorated player of all time, is expected to pick up his record eighth Ballon d'Or after leading his nation to the World Cup.
Martinez is also on the 10-man shortlist for the Yashin Trophy, for the world's best keeper.
His replacement at Arsenal, Aaron Ramsdale, joins him on the list of nominees.
