Reading have announced the signing of experienced goalkeeper David Button on a two-year deal.

The 34-year-old was released from his contract at West Brom yesterday as the Royals can still only sign free agents and loan players for the foreseeable future.

A stopper with more than 350 appearances to his name for the likes of Brentford and Fulham, the former Tottenham Hotspur youth star joins as an experienced head among a plethora of young keepers.

The futures of Coniah Boyce-Clarke and Jokull Andresson remain uncertain as Button makes it four first-team keepers in Ruben Selles' squad.

Mark Bowen, Head of Football Operations, said: “In securing David’s signature, we are bringing in an immensely experienced goalkeeper who has nous, knowhow, and quality. He is a model pro who will raise the standard for the team, both on the pitch and around the training ground. He’s keen to help some of our young goalkeepers learn, but most importantly he wants to prove himself as the prime candidate for the starting position.”
