Former Reading keeper Luke Southwood is 'buzzing' to have joined Cheltenham Town on a permanent move.

The 25-year-old was released by the Royals last month, having played over 50 games for the Robins on loan last season.

Penning a one-year deal with Wade Elliott's side, it ends an eight-year professional spell in Berkshire- where he made 30 appearances.

"I'm buzzing to finally get it done," he said.

"It's something I have wanted pretty much the whole window so i'm glad to get it done.

"It was such a good season last year, I enjoyed it and learned so much and we've got such a good group here.

"The fans were definitely a big factor. When you feel support like that, so I can't wait to get going and play in front of them again."

He will return in just over a month, with Cheltenham visiting the SCL Stadium for the first time on August 15.
