A TEAM of 16 boys from Bulmershe Gymnastics Club collected a fine haul of medals at the Southern Region Network Championships in Milton Keynes.

Nine-year-old Benjamin Neville from Earley won the all-around bronze in the Level 1 Elite, and secured an apparatus gold on the vault.

His score of 69.2 soared past the qualification requirement for the national finals in November later in the year.

Isaac Sperrin, from Caversham, achieved bronze in the all-around Level 2 Elite category, equalling his placing in the Level 1 category last year.

He also secured individual apparatus golds on rings and parallel bars, and qualifies for the national finals with a score of 66.6.

Reading School’s Max Kendall, 11, took the all-around gold in the Level 3 Elite competition, retaining his title in his first competition since recovering from surgery on his elbow.

In the club level competition, 11-year-old Oratory Prep student, Harry Eckersall, won the all-around silver in the Level 3 Club category, while his 12-year-old team-mate, James West of Maiden Erleigh School, picked up the all-around bronze in the Level 4 Club competition. Both qualify for the national finals in November.

Eight-year-old Tom Pitts from Twyford performed well in his first major competition, picking up a silver for his vault in the Level 1 Club category.
