LAST WEEK, the Reading Borough Council refused a planning application for more than 250 homes on a former golf club course, causing more than 3,000 objections and making it the least popular planning application in Reading's history.
Members of the Planning Applications committee rejected the plans unanimously on Wednesday, July 21, with concerns raised including the loss of open space, trees, increased traffic congestion, and overdevelopment.

Considering the level of negative feedback this applications received, we decided to look at your responses to the news of the refusal.
One commenter said: "This golf course occupies a shady wooded valley with an ancient green lane.
"It should be protected land - to help preserve the endangered species found here."
Another commenter wrote: "I was impressed with the pragmatic comments of some of the councillors South of the river.

"I too am a voter and I am nonplussed at what appears to be serious misinformation thrown around at the meeting.
"I guess RBC and RGC will now need to meet and agree a better housing strategy for this site.
"Local youngsters in the Ward need affordable housing in THEIR WARD area."
