A dramatic divide in Britain’s housing market has been revealed, with Hungerford in Berkshire experiencing a 40.8 percent increase in house prices against a backdrop of a 1.8 percent national decrease.
The sleepy village of Hungerford (RG17 7) was highlighted as the extreme end of the UK property market fluctuations in a 2023 analysis by the Telegraph.
The Telegraph’s house price calculator, focusing on 8000 postcode sectors, showed vast variations.
On the opposite end to Hungerford, there was a significant fall in property prices in the SL5 postcodes in Ascot where prices dropped up to 30.2 percent and RG20 9 postcode in Compton where prices dropped 31.9 percent.
Hungerford, famous for its beautiful sprawling countryside, boosts picturesque surroundings with excellent transport links to Reading and London by train.
This has made the town an excellent village for people wishing to commute and yet still have that quiet life in the country.
According to the Telegraph analysis, the charming Berkshire village saw property transactions averaging a value of £727,894 in 2023, a substantial 40.8 percent rise on the previous year.
