FOURTEEN Scouts from Reading have arrived in South Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree, where they will join 40,000 others.

Scouts from nearly every country come together once every four years to promote unity, community and togetherness.

This year the event will be hosted in Gunsan-si, South Korea, from August 1 to 12.

Nathaniel Paine, aged 16 from Reading said “I love food so I’m looking forward to try all the food in Korea – I just hope they do good portion sizes! I want to have a go at Paragliding too – how cool would it be to do that, it’s something different.”

The theme of this year’s Jamboree is to ‘draw your dream’, representing a willingness to accept young people's ideas and opinions.

Chief Scout, Bear Grylls has said he is “proud to be a part of a movement that puts young people first”.
