UPDATE: Power has been restored in the area.

TWO unplanned powercuts have left hundreds of Reading homes without power, this morning (Monday, July 3).

529 customers - 26 postcodes - in Calcot have been affected in this morning's unplanned outage.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) were first notified of the outage at 8am today.

SSEN hope to have the power restored by 12.30pm today.

Elsewhere, 8 postcodes (35 affected customers) have reported an outage in Lower Earley this morning.

SSEN were notified of this outage at 7.38am and hope to have the issue fixed by 1pm.

A notice on the SSEN site said: "We're sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.

"Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.

Affected customers in Calcot are to use reference 'MB5631'.

Customers in Lower Earley to use reference 'MB5614'.
