A POPULAR TikToker, known for satirical videos that review towns, took to Reading to find out why it made it on the 'worst places to live' list twice.

Posting on the social media platform, @Philc84, often tears UK towns apart by reviewing the worst things about them.

In his most recent video, with more than 770k views so far, Phil visited Reading to find out why the town was listed on the 'worst places to live' list twice.

He opened: "Here's a guide to Reading. It's a town, a really boring one. It's so bad it hasn't made it onto the list of the 50 worst places to live once, it's done it twice", as he shows Reading being listed twice at number 12 and 21.

Phil claims that market researchers often consider Reading to the "most normal town in the country".

It isn't all bad, Phil continues by saying Reading isn't just the most normal place in the UK, but also the most prosperous place outside of London.

He also notes that Reading is the third most affordable place to live in the country, when comparing salary to house price.

"This means Reading is a sensible choice. Sensible people come to live here and sensible people are really boring".

The video sees Phil pointing out various 'normal' things about Reading town centre, including charity shops, gyms, hairdressers and food delivery drivers.

He then shows Reading's "proper banksy" that "isn't that normal, but quite cool".

The video continues as Phil says: "What isn't normal, is how bits of buildings just seem to fall off here", before showing a clip of scaffolding falling from the Oracle car park to the pavement below.

He showed a large piece of debris that had fallen from a building before claiming "those three girls in front of me nearly died".

Phil concludes the video by saying: "To me, Reading doesn't seem that bad. It seems nice".

He was then approached by a resident who told him Reading is the worst place he has ever lived.

"He said this [Reading] is the worst place he's ever lived. The only other two places he's lived are Aldershot and East London, so he knows a s*** town when he sees one.

"That might explain why Reading is on the list of worst places to live not once, but twice", Phil says as he ends the review video.

The Sunday Times would disagree with the TikTok review as it named Reading in its 'Best Places to Live' list, for the second year running.

Reading was voted as one of the Times' Best Places to Live in the Southeast England category, alongside Oxford, Guildford and Seven Dials in Brighton & Hove. Chichester, West Sussex, came first place in this category.

Reading was praised by The Sunday Times judges for its "combination of great job prospects and transport links with relatively affordable property prices that make the town a hard-to-beat option for millennials and Gen Z."
