League One giants Ipswich Town make the journey to Berkshire tonight, in the FA Cup first round.

Usually visiting Reading when in the Royal County, the Tractor Boys will be facing non-league Bracknell Town on this occasion.

However, there are still Royal links in the televised clash at Bottom Meadow, with two former players in the ranks.

Reading Chronicle:

Sone Aluko

A one-time record transfer, Aluko arrived with big expectations and failed to deliver.

Joining for a reported £7.5m in 2017, just three goals in his debut campaign left a lot to be desired.

On a long, four-year deal, he stayed and racked up over 100 appearances- rarely looking the player he had been at Fulham prior to his RG2 move.

Leaving on a free transfer in 2021, the Nigeria international is under contract until 2023 at Portman Road- bringing some experience to Kieran McKenna's promotion chasers.

Reading Chronicle:

Kyle Edwards

Another winger from the Midlands, Edwards never played- or even signed a contract- for the Royals.

After release from his boyhood club, West Brom, in 2021- the wide player spent a period on trial with Veljko Paunovic.

Seemingly impressing, it is thought the financial restrictions on the club meant a deal could not be done.

he joined Ipswich on a three-year deal that summer, playing almost 40 times in the season and a bit since.
