A UK-based make-up artist has said that she is living the dream after being awarded Make-Up artist of the year in a UK wide search this year.

In October 2021, Nawar Raichura, who lives is Reading, applied for the British Association in Beauty Therapy and Cosmotology.

After a gruelling audition process where she was judged by industry professionals, she was whittled down from 700 semi-finalists to four finalists.

In May 2022, she went on to win the coveted title during the awards ceremony at the Windsor’s Fairmount Hotel.

Nawar said: “I was absolutely ecstatic. It was honestly an indescribable feeling when my name was announced. I honestly felt like I was walking on air.

“After years of working hard and loving what I’m doing I was being recognised for my skill and talent. I do know my own skills and knowledge in the industry but it’s a different feeling when you’re recognised especially in an award as huge as BABTAC.

“To this day, I’ve got a lot of pride in what I’ve accomplished.”

Nawar only started wearing make-up herself when she was at university, but quickly found that she had a passion and talent for the art form.

Over the years her skill has attracted clients from all over the world including Dubai where she spends two months out of the year spreading her passion for make-up.

Although at first she chose to pursue a career in computing and teaching, Nawar soon found her true calling as a make-up artist obtaining qualifications and expanding her knowledge.

“I quickly found my love and passion for makeup artistry and obtained qualifications and done professional training by celebrity and world-famous makeup artists like Idora,” she explained. “I absolutely love my job and wouldn’t change it for anything in the world”.

As well as Make-up Artist of the year, Nawar was also a finalist in the 2022 Wedding Industry Awards and the Hair and Beauty awards UK.

With a strong following on social media, the future is looking bright for this talented make-up artist.

With collaborations already established with Charolate Tilbury, Trish McIvoy and Dr Organics, her goal is to continue sharing her knowledge and skills with others interested in the same industry.

She added: “I am always looking to grow my social media following and this is a never ending goal.

“I believe social media gives me the ability to reach more audiences and connect with people all over the world.

“I am also considering launching my own product range and partnering with more brands to test new products that I can share with others.”

As well as a make-up artist specialising in everyday and wedding looks, Nawar also provides classes for anyone wanting to expand their own skills.
