Unhelpful proof of delivery photos are a consistent bugbear of online shoppers in Reading.
From the glimmer of a package in an unrecognizable shed to a parcel behind an unfamiliar flower pot, it is frustrating to know your order was so close and yet remains so far.
But when James Holley, from Earley, received a delivery photo from Hermes it didn’t even include his web-bought goods – just a pair of legs.

The photo shows what appears to be the delivery drivers shorts, calves and socks under the steering wheel.
“Thanks Hermes for the proof of delivery photo. Very conclusive,” posted Mr Holley on Facebook.
His package had been successfully delivered to his house, but Facebook commenters were quick to make jokes at Hermes' expense.

“Why is he wearing shorts? It's cold out there,” posted one woman.
“You ordered socks?” asked one man “Tried and tested,” replied another.
One Facebook user said: “And the winner of the Knobbly Knees Contest 2021 for Earley is...”
Hermes was contacted for comment, but were unable to comment without a tracking number for the parcel.
