THE FROSTY produce of a Twyford brewery has been recognised as the best beer in the country at the UK's foremost ale awards.

Binghams Brewery's Vanilla Stout picked up the Supreme Champion gold medal at the Campaign for Real Ale's (CAMRA) Champion Beer of Britain Awards Dinner.

A complex, five per cent beer, the champion ale was recognised for its subtle infusion of vanilla pods and dark malts, creating a smooth sensation on the pallet.

To add to the significance of picking up the top gong from an organisation of 175,000 members, Binghams' victory is the first time a speciality beer has won the award in CAMRA's 38 year history.

Chris Bingham, joint owner and one of the brewery's six workers, said: “This really is our finest hour, but it wouldn't be possible without the continued support from all our local pubs and bars, neighbouring breweries, suppliers, wholesalers, friends, family, CAMRA, SIBA and most importantly, our customers.

“Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.”

Binghams has been brewing ales since November 2010, when Mr Bingham, Michelle Joyce and Delia Allott decided to set up business.
